Shopify Migration.

Move the store without losing track of what matters.

I plan and carry out scoped store migrations to Shopify, including catalogue mapping, storefront setup and checks around the changeover. The work begins with an inventory of your current data and functions. We identify what can be moved, what needs an alternative and how to handle existing URLs and incoming orders during launch.

Assess the move before committing to it

A store migration is more than importing products. Your current platform may hold customers, orders, discount rules, custom fields and app functionality that need different handling in Shopify. We review those dependencies before agreeing what the migration includes.

This service can suit a move from WooCommerce or another supported source, but the source’s export options and Shopify’s import capabilities determine the final scope. No platform is assumed to transfer every field unchanged.

Create a data and URL map

We map product records, variants, collections and agreed customer or historical records. The plan defines required transformations, duplicate handling and the records that remain archived in the source system.

Existing public URLs are inventoried and matched to new destinations where possible. Redirects, page metadata and internal links are considered together; a redirect plan supports continuity but cannot guarantee unchanged search rankings.

Trial the import before launch

A representative sample is imported and reviewed before the full agreed dataset. We check variant associations, image links, descriptions and record counts against the source. The trial helps expose limits that a successful upload message alone would miss.

The storefront is configured alongside the migration, including navigation and the required replacement features. Unsupported behaviours are discussed explicitly rather than silently dropped.

Coordinate the final changeover

The release plan defines a data cut-off, handling of new orders and a fallback approach appropriate to your setup. We check the imported records, redirects and purchase journey before changing the live entry point.

Customer login and historical account behaviour may differ between platforms. We agree how customers will access their account after the move and how you will communicate any required steps.

A documented migration result

You receive the agreed Shopify store setup, import mapping, validation notes, URL redirect list and a changeover checklist. The handover states what was migrated and which source records were excluded or handled separately.

Provider subscriptions, migration-tool fees and extensive data cleanup are identified before work begins. Keeping an accessible source backup for the agreed period helps resolve questions after launch.

Information needed for a migration estimate

Share your current platform, catalogue size, custom fields and the apps or workflows you depend on. Include the types of historical records you want to preserve and any launch restrictions. These details determine the effort more accurately than the store’s visual appearance.

USEFUL TO KNOW

Before
we begin.

Can you migrate everything from WooCommerce?+

Not every field or extension maps directly. I review products, customers, orders and custom functionality, then agree which records and behaviours the migration can preserve.

Will rankings stay exactly the same?+

That cannot be guaranteed. URL mapping, metadata and launch checks reduce avoidable disruption, but platform changes can still affect indexing and search performance.

Can customers keep their existing passwords?+

Password portability depends on the source and destination account systems. We check the supported account flow and agree any customer activation steps before launch.
