Shopify App & API Integration.

Let your storefront and business systems work together.

I build scoped integrations between Shopify and the systems your business already uses. That could mean synchronising agreed product information, passing order events to a fulfilment service or connecting a custom operational workflow. The design sets clear rules for data ownership, access and failed updates before connecting two systems that may disagree.

Choose the connection your workflow needs

An existing app can be the right solution if it already supports your requirements. I review the available options and API capabilities before recommending custom development. A custom integration is most useful when the workflow, data mapping or operational checks are not covered adequately.

This service focuses on connecting systems. A full public app distributed to other merchants has additional product, review and support requirements and needs a separate proposal.

Set the data contract and access scope

We identify the source of truth for each field and the direction of updates. If both systems can edit stock or product information, conflict rules must be explicit. The scope also defines permitted API access and the records the integration needs.

Shopify features and API permissions can depend on the store plan, app configuration and current platform requirements. I check these constraints for your specific integration rather than promise unrestricted access to every store feature.

Handle events with bounded, traceable processing

I implement the agreed API connection and verify incoming webhook requests before processing them. Events may arrive more than once, so applicable operations are designed to avoid repeating the same business action.

Retries are bounded, and longer work can run in a background process. A failed update should be recorded for review without exposing credentials or unnecessary customer information in logs.

Verify the records, not just the connection

Testing covers successful requests, duplicate events, unavailable providers and invalid records. We check the agreed reconciliation approach so your team can identify records that did not reach the destination.

An integration that receives an order event successfully still needs to verify that the destination accepted the intended order data. The review follows that end-to-end flow within the agreed environments.

The integration and its operating notes

Deliverables include integration code, field mapping, environment configuration, failure handling and a guide to resolving the agreed error cases. Any operational view or replay control is explicitly included in the scope if your team needs it.

Provider charges, external app subscriptions and hosting are separate from development. Future API changes may require maintenance, so the handover identifies the external dependencies.

Share both ends of the connection

Send the Shopify store context, destination system, available API documentation and the event or data you want to exchange. Explain which system should win when information differs and who will handle exceptions. That lets us propose a realistic integration boundary.

USEFUL TO KNOW

Before
we begin.

Can you connect an ERP or CRM?+

If it exposes suitable APIs and your account permits access, I can assess the connection. Systems without usable APIs may need a different approach or may not support the intended workflow.

Is a paid Shopify app always necessary?+

No. We compare existing apps with custom work. Subscriptions, maintenance effort and the required behaviour all affect that decision.

Does this include a public Shopify app?+

Not by default. A single-store business integration and a distributed app have different review, authentication and support requirements.

needs to change.

Tell me which systems need to connect, the records involved and what should happen when an update fails.
