Design System Design.

Give repeated design decisions a consistent foundation.

I create Figma design systems for websites and applications that need a shared visual and interaction language. The system brings typography, spacing, colour and components together around your actual screens. It should help designers and developers make consistent decisions, with enough guidance to use the components correctly and extend them deliberately.

Build a system when repetition becomes costly

A design system is useful when several screens reuse the same patterns but buttons, forms or spacing keep drifting. It can also support a new product with enough repeated interaction to justify a component library.

A small website may only need a compact UI kit. We choose a level of systemisation that matches your product, rather than create hundreds of variants your team will never use.

Inventory what the product already needs

We review existing screens, brand guidelines and your implementation framework. The inventory identifies repeated patterns and conflicting versions of the same component, then selects the components with the greatest practical value.

Foundations define the intended typography, colour roles, spacing and responsive behaviour. Naming explains the purpose of a token so a future change does not require guessing which grey or margin belongs where.

Create components with usable states

I build Figma components and variants for the agreed inventory. Inputs, buttons and navigation account for relevant focus, disabled, error and loading states. Complex patterns such as tables are based on the product’s content and interaction needs.

We agree how the design library relates to existing code components. A Figma system does not automatically become a production library; code implementation can be a separate frontend engagement.

Check the system against real screens

Selected screens are rebuilt or reviewed using the components to expose gaps and unnecessary complexity. This tests whether the system supports normal product work instead of looking good only on a component showcase page.

The review considers contrast and state clarity in the design. Production keyboard behaviour, screen-reader output and runtime accessibility still need checking when the components are implemented.

A library with guidance for its owners

Deliverables include the organised Figma library, agreed tokens and components, example usage and contribution notes. The guidance covers when to use a variant and how to propose changes without creating competing versions.

Ownership matters: the handover identifies who maintains the system and how future additions should be reviewed. Ongoing library maintenance is a separate engagement rather than an assumed permanent commitment.

Scope around your repeated patterns

Share representative screens, brand assets and the component framework your developers use. Tell me which inconsistencies cause the most rework. The estimate depends on the component inventory, state coverage and number of platforms or themes required.

USEFUL TO KNOW

Before
we begin.

Is this a React component library?+

This service creates the design system in Figma. A coded library can be scoped through frontend development using the agreed design specification.

Can it match an existing code library?+

Yes. I review the code library’s public component structure and variants so the design system can align with the implementation.

Do we need light and dark themes?+

Only if the product requires both. Each theme adds design and testing considerations, so theme coverage is agreed explicitly.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Tell me what
needs to change.

Send representative screens, your existing components and the inconsistencies your team wants to resolve.
